Small utility to compare the contents of two folders and highlight any changes or differences between the files.
Backup Compare is a freeware compare backup app and file manager developed by Jarkko Tuovinen for Windows. It's light on system resources, portable and reliable.
The download has been tested by an editor here on a PC.
Compares the differences between contents of two directories
Backup Compare is designed to analyze two directories, folders and folder contents by file name and size to detect changes in folder structure. If everything else matches it then compares them by file contents (check sum hash) to detect gradual decay of data.
Double click on the file prompts the Windows Explorer and displays the file in its location, for making required changes.
Compatibility and License
Backup Compare is provided under a freeware license on Windows from file managers with no restrictions on usage. Download and installation of this PC software is free and 1.0.0.0 is the latest version last time we checked.
What version of Windows can Backup Compare run on?
Backup Compare can be used on a computer running Windows 11 or Windows 10. Previous versions of the OS shouldn't be a problem with Windows 8 and Windows 7 having been tested. It runs on both 32-bit and 64-bit systems with no dedicated 64-bit download provided.
